Columbus, Ohio: Today, Groundwork Ohio announced the appointment of Abby McMahon as its Director of Policy & Advocacy, a newly created position within the organization.
“I am excited to join the Groundwork team and look forward to contributing to its efforts that support the healthy development and early learning of Ohio’s young children,” said Abby McMahon. “I am passionate about all children and am thrilled to join such a well-respected organization that exemplifies my passion."
Prior to joining Groundwork, Abby served as an attorney with the Ohio Legislative Service Commission for five years and drafted and advised on legislation during two state budgets. She has a B.A. in Geography from The Ohio State University and a J.D. from the University of Cincinnati College of Law. Abby also served as an AmeriCorps member before attending law school, where she spent a year working with women and children at the Battered Women’s Shelter of Summit and Medina Counties.
“We are ecstatic that Abby is joining our team,” said Shannon Jones, Executive Director, Groundwork Ohio. “Abby’s experience with the Ohio General Assembly and her genuine passion for working with parents and young children makes her the perfect person to lead our policy and advocacy work.”
