In response to Governor Mike DeWine’s preview of his Executive State Budget and State of the State address today, Groundwork Ohio’s President and CEO Shannon Jones issued the following statement:
"Governor DeWine is the children’s governor and we are thrilled to have his leadership once again in our state as he previews his vision for Ohio families over the next two years and renews his commitment to Ohio’s infants, toddlers, and preschoolers,” said Jones.
"We enthusiastically support new investments that provides for 15,000 additional young children and their working parents with access to high quality child care, 10,000 additional children with access to evidence-based home visiting services, a new child state tax deduction, expanded children’s Medicaid coverage, and increased funding for public children services agencies. Beyond these new investments and expansions of services to young children, we support the wisdom of creating a new Cabinet-level agency focused uniquely on young children to help build upon the infrastructure that brings state leaders together to solve the complex needs of families served across multiple agencies,” Jones continued.
“Groundwork is proud to advance the Governor’s vision and looks forward to reviewing the details of the proposals in the coming weeks as we work with Ohio policymakers to respond to the urgent needs of Ohio’s youngest children and families.”
